SkipGear wins again.
01/28/03
The fumes have cleared, the dust
has settled and SkipGear racers have TQ'd and won both 1/8
Buggy and 1/10 Truck at the CRCRC Indoor Gas Champs. Adam
Drake was on his game for qualifying in both classes. He TQ'd
both truck and buggy. In the 1/8 buggy main he dominated from
the start and never looked back to take the win. In the truck
main, he and Jesse Robbers opened up a lead after the initial
early jockeying. Adam and Jesse continued to stretch away
from the rest while also swapping the lead almost every lap.
Unfortunately the excitement ended shortly after the first
fuel stop. Adam landed in the marbles after a large table
top and spun backwards into a tube, breaking a rear A-Arm.
From that point on Jesse just maintained his lead over second
place running Allen Horne.

| Adam
Drake (TQ) , Jesse Robbers (1st), Jon Crawford (3rd) |
The surprise of the weekend was Jon Crawford. He had a rough
time in qualifying but got it together for the mains. He bumped
up from 8th in the B into the A, then proceeded on to finish
3rd in the A. Jon ran a solid and smart race and never wrecked
on his own for the whole 30 minutes.
Special thanks to Matt "Big Daddy" Hale for helping
me pit Jon and Jesse in the Mains.
On a sad note, one of the CRCRC regulars, 17 year old Geoff
Perme, passed away Friday night as practice wrapped up. He
was found unconscious next to his pit trailer where a few
of the racers administered CPR until the paramedics arrived.
He passed away at the hospital after many valiant efforts
to revive him. It was later learned that Geoff had a congenital
heart problem that lead to his passing. Even though the SkipGear
racers didn't know him personally, we would like to express
our condolences to his family and racing friends. |

SkipGear
cleans up at the CRCRC Winter Midwest!
01/23/03
Every class winner at the race
was running SkipGear bodies and decals. Jesse Robbers was
the man of the weekend. He was untouchable on the track.
Jesse TQ'd and won every class he entered - 2wh Stock, 2wh
Mod and 4wh Mod. Brian Dunbar made his trip from Cali worth
it by TQ'ing and winning Mod Truck. The surprise race of the
event was stock truck. Cincinnati local and privateer, Greg
Niklas, stole the show by qualifying second in the last round
and then convincingly taking the win in the main. He drove
very clean and mistake free to take the win over the TQ, Allen
Horne. We are very proud to say the Greg was running SkipGear
on his truck. For complete results of the race, visit www.CRCRC.com.
Skip was at the race also but was fighting the flu all weekend.
He would like
to apologize to anybody that might have felt that he shrugged
them off at the race. He had a just about lost his voice most
of the weekend and just wasn't much for talking.
Jesse, Skip and Jon Crawford will be attending the CRCRC
Winter Gas Champs this coming weekend. Stop by and say hi.
Skip is just about over the flu now so he might be able to
talk. Check back next week for updates from the Gas Champs.

Thrust Bearings In Stock and
other accessories
01/22/03
The thrust bearings are in stock
again. We sold out at the CRCRC race but will have more for
the Gas race this weekend. These have proven to be very
popular with the gas truck racers.
B3/T3 Camber mods are starting to become more widely used
now. There were about a dozen drivers at the CRCRC Winter
Champs using the camber mod. Give your B3/T3 much more tunablility
while waiting for the new cars.
Do you have BIG NUTZ? We are working on a way to produce
the big front wheel nuts seen on many of our racers Losi buggies.
They make the front rims run much more true and allow for
easier tire changes when testing. The nuts are the same size
as the standard axle rear wheel nuts so you only have to take
one wrench to track side to change wheels.

NORRCA Nat's
10/29/02
We're back from the NORRCA Nat's
with a few wins and TQ's. A full report will be online when
CRCRC gets back online so I can make sure the finish orders
are accurate. The things that I know for sure: Jesse Robbers
- TQ both 2wh mod and 4wh mod, wins 4wh Mod, 2nd 2wh mod,
3rd Truck mod. John Crawford won Expert Stock Truck.

Website Updates.
10/14/02
Updates should be coming a little
more frequently now. Jason has been very busy with College
and has not been able to work on the site so we now have a
little outside help for a while. Look for the Graphix pages
to be updated first followed by a revamp of the Paint pages.
On a side note, those that have E-mailed recently may have
noticed that Skip is a bit slow on the turnaround replying
mail. Please be patient. Along with being very busy, due to
the NORRCA Nat's next weekend at CRCRC he has had some computer
issues that have now been resolved. Rest assured, he has received
and logged your e-mails. Replies to the last week or so's
worth of mail should go out on Monday. If you don't get a
reply with in a week, please resend your request.

Skip Gear World Champions, Again!
10/04/02
Team SkipGear has done it again.
The second IFMAR World Championship that SkipGear drivers
have attended and they brought home a Second concourse trophy.
The 1/10 I.C. Touring (235mm) and a 1/10 200mm touring World
cup was held by TSRCAR just south of Hamilton, OH.
Jacob Delano (Team Associated, LRP, JACO, PARMA, SkipGear)
brought home the concourse trophy with his "Jake the
Snake" body and custom decals from SkipGear. Jacob, only
14 years old, is one of the young rising stars of Team Associated.
He has been called the future of our sport by Curtis Hustings.
Also running a SkipGear body at the race was Joel Johnson
of Team Trinity. Jacob ended up 29th, just behind Matt Francis
and Joel finished 23th overall.

CAMBER MOD IS HERE! 8/9/02
It's finally here. The long awaited AE camber mod. This camber mod will work on the Team Associated B2/B3 buggies and T3 trucks with no modification (although some is recommended). The camber mod allows you to mount the rear ball studs vertical to allow for easier roll center changes. It also adds a third inner hole for more camber locations. This should greatly improve the tuneability of the Associated offroad vehicles. We recommend using Losi Titanium ball-studs with this part due to the added stresses on the ball-stud when running the ball stud spaced up. As with the Losi Mod, running 2 #4 (Losi gold) washers under the ball stud duplicates the stock locations. When using the added inside hole, there may be clearance issues when using RPM gear covers and spacing the ball stud higher than 2 washers. For more information, check out the AE Camber Mod page.
We now have our Championship winning Losi Camber Mod back in stock. We don't forsee any shortages on this or the AE Mod ever again.

Paint Pages Updated 7/23/02
Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been quite busy with school and work, so I haven't had much time to work on the site. The Paint pages have been updated with some of the latest paint jobs.
Additionally, we are working on a new supplier for the Camber Mods so hopefully our supply problems will be taken care of shortly. |

Graphix Pages Updated 6/25/02
THe Graphix pages have been updated with our most common Peak/Orion and Trinity Graphix. Have a look-see.

More Delays 6/12/02
This is straight from Skip:
We have yet another delay in getting out the next batch of Camber Mods. I don't know what it is going to take to find a reliable source for making them. The gentleman that is going to start making them for me got shipped out of town on business for a few weeks. The last I had talked to him before he had to leave town he had some test versions of the AE Camber Mods made up and was getting ready to run off some of the Losi Mods. That was 2 weeks ago and I haven't been able to talk to him since. I appreciate everybody out there for being patient. I will let you know as soon as they are available. For those of you that have pre-orders, I am going to get out my jig and make some by hand for you to get you taken care of.
Thanks again for you patience
Tony
Again, as soon as we know more I will post something here. |

Skip Gear World Champions! 6/04/02
Ok, well not really. But using the XXX4 body that was painted and stickered by Skip, Brian Dunbar was able to bring home the concours win for the 4wd class at the Off-Road World Championships. We think this says alot about the quality of the Paint and Graphix available from Skip Gear & Graphix.
